I was down by the Res today and saw a few interesting birds. I must admit I was not able to ID the water birds to species. Some ducks but that was as far as I was able to get with them. There were also plenty of geese hanging around, as usual. They were enjoying the kiddie swimming beach that they now have all to themselves. These same geese did try to get on the beach in the summer but were limited to after hours visits. Some nights or early mornings they would be there, sometimes not. Now they spend a lot of time there.
Walking around the edge of the trail that loops around Busa farm and the water I also spied a woodpecker. It looked like it could have been a Red Headed, Melanerpes erythrocephalus.
It also was quite a pleasant day. Early fall coolness, a bit a blustery wind kicking up now and again and that fall kind of crispness that makes me think of pumpkin pie.
